Two men seem to be pretending to be pompous whereas I could observe them shaking hands. They were stepping in the house with soft and nervous walks as if they were a cat at the stranger’s house; fearful house. Inside the Emily’s house, the dank smell has made the nose itchy and it was full of dusty and spider webs. There were many kinds of furniture in the parlor covered with cracked leather. There was no warmth of the human that has been in parlor for ages. The crystal chandelier hanging upon the ceiling was covered with the full bundle of dust as if it’s forgotten what its purpose of shining the room with charming brightness. All I could see was the world with black eye patch worn. When the Negro lighted up a candle, I was able to see small dusts flying in the air and we were all breathing the dirt slowly in and out. Everyone’s mouths were mumbling trying to find the perfect time to speak but their eyes were too busy reading one’s countenance.
Shabby long shadow of the candle has lead the sight of one traditional oil painted portrait of Miss Emily’s father and Miss Emily of herself right above the untidy fireplace. The portrait was framed at upper part of the ceiling that they had to tilt their neck to see it. In some way, Ms. Emily’s father seemed looking down at the others with full ignorance even it was just a painting. By the rough irregular brush strokes of Miss Emily’s father, it has shown his rough, strict and powerful personality. Moreover from his wide opened legs pose and well organized shaped beard has shown his full authority. Face with full of wrinkles and tightly waxed hair has shown his perfection without allowing one small mistake. Straightly faced Ms. Emily’s father seemed to make an eye contact that made others awkward and nervous. His dark eyes seem to have been truthfully honorable and full leadership of eagerness. Representatively he was wearing Maroon tailcoat and pants, vest, shirt, lace neck wrap, top hat, gloves, hanky and shoes. Every end of the cloth was neatly straightened in angle, and due to the over decorated accessories, it has reflected him as liking to show off to others by his appearance. Right next to Mr. Grierson, there was Ms. Emily standing with her right hand on her father’s left sided shoulder. Ms. Emily was wearing taupe lace dress with matching sash and parasol, petticoat, hat, gloves, necklace, earrings, and shoes. Differ from her father’s strong impact; Ms. Emily had no facial expression as a dead person. This also seemed as a puppet of Ms. Emily’s father. Her beautiful shiny eyes seemed to be wondering her secret love with full of sadness. Dark purple dress has made Miss Emily’s skin even paler and black background has made the mood between Miss Emily and her farther uncomfortable and hiding each other’s personal lives.
