Rationale
Faulkner wrote a novel named 'A Rose for Emily' set in the American South in the 19th century. This story's main character is Emily Grierson and her whole life, before and after her father’s passing, was described as devastating. The tale describes a mysterious woman’s life, a woman watched by her neighborhoods. Since she went through difficulties alone, she still confuses the past with the present so in persistent honour of the past and holding on to the family reputation.
The aim of this assignment is to show the understanding of women’s social status in the American South in 19th century. Miss Emily had experienced an extremely difficult situation to get over it alone, as a woman was an accomplishment. For example, at the beginning of the story, there was a description of Emily’s house not looking lively which alluded her inactive life. The readers are wondering why? Also the description of her uncared for the appearance represents her ruined life. To achieve this goal, I am going to write a first person narrative of a created character and, narrate the experience upon entering Emily's house. This description will show that the woman’s life becoming spiritless when she lost her father she relied on.

We stood in front of the locked steel door that seemed unwelcoming to guests waiting quietly. We were allowed by the old Negro to come into the house. We walked through the garden and I saw nothing was alive there-no trees, no grass and no flowers in garden. The garden was all deteriorated.
I was the first one crossing the doorsill. I realized that there was full of darkness in the house. Since I cannot see through the darkness, this stimulated the sense of smell. I could smell what I have never experienced before. It is impossible to explain how was the smell but I was pretty sure that everyone might frown.
When the Negro opened the blinds of the windows, the sun shined brightly through the darkness. I could see the leather of furniture , and everything was just collecting dust. Right after I sat down, I got up from the dust furniture, and I could leave a trace accidentally. A rounded table and a long-legged chair seemed to have been made by artisans. A framed of picture covered in gold might be looking gilt without dust standing on the wall. Their beauty was totally hidden out of people’s care. Everything seemed to be out of human’s hands. It made me feel as though I just came here to excavate treasure.
We sat on the cracked leather couch until Miss Emily appeared. I was waiting around 15 minutes but it was not boring. I was busy appreciating the classical house. I found out a crayon portrait of Miss Emily’s father on a tarnished gilt easel before the fireplace where it stood.
I expected him to look slim from what I had heard of him. He was plump instead; he was not tax payer and holds lots of money to afford his diet. Of course, this did not mean that he hadn’t eaten much though. I could see his receding hairline but he still seemed stately, he with tightly closed lips. He seemed to stare me. His curly hair, which was gently combed, covered his ears. I could not recognize a hollow thing on his face whether it is a dimple or not but it definitely effects a favorable impression. He covered his skin with light colored of scarf. I could see his dainty habits from his appearance. He was formal but not that much and he wore nothing of accessories. This made me feel as though he lived in a small way while he held lots of money.
Eventually, Miss Emily entered – a fat and small woman enshrouded in darkness, with a thin gold chain attached to her waist, and vanishing into her belt, leaning on an ebony cane with a tarnished gold head. These accessories might not be separated with her since she started to lose interest to take care of herself. This dark, gloomy and lifeless house corresponded to her stately demeanor.
